We are on a mission to find, nurture, and try ideas to transform the health of communities

What do we do?

We partner with nonprofits and other eligible organizations to find, nurture, and try ideas for creating healthy minds, bodies, and emotions.  We provide funding and other support to cultivate ideas, create plans, and to test those plans.

  • We encourage daydreaming about what healthy could look like for a community.
  • We spark new ideas for how to make those dreams a reality.
  • We provide grants and technical support to test promising and un-proven ideas for meaningful change.

Why focus on new ideas?

We think the best ideas for transforming the health of communities come from the people in those communities. We noticed most funding and efforts to improve health focused on ideas that people already knew could work. We think transformation of health into what communities envision will require taking chances on untested ideas that just might work!

How do we support other organizations?

As a private foundation, we direct resources to nonprofits, schools, or other eligible organizations for:

  • Events, contests, or other activities that encourage creative thinking about what health means to a community and how to create the community’s vision of health
  • Technical assistance for evaluating untried interventions or programs
  • Grants to try out ideas and evaluate their impact

What types of ideas do we fund?

This is a list of examples of the type of ideas we want to support:

  • Peer support such as kids helping other kids or people who have lived in homelessness supporting others in similar situations
  • Making it easy for families to have healthy food, housing, and utilities
  • Teaching and supporting practical ways to handle stress
  • New approaches to mentoring for kids and adults to thrive
  • Using social media or technology to reach people in ways that create health

Sometimes these types of ideas are called resilience,  applications of positive psychology principles, Self-Healing Communities, Positive Deviance Approach, or similar terms.

What don't we fund?

We do not fund medical care or services, health insurance, emergency aid available in other ways, research in areas that already have strong evidence, political activities, or services that are broadly available through other organizations.

How can you apply for funding?

If you have an idea, please reach out to us at ContactUs@ReInventHealthy.org.

We currently do not have open requests for proposals. We are looking for partners to co-develop projects for potential funding.
